Week 8 - Arnold Rendering Techniques & Compositing AOVs, Render Layers, Light Groups in Nuke

Fig.1 - Using alpha setting

Today we went back in-depth with rending techniques in the 'render layer'. We were shown how to make light groups by going to the render settings and using the AOV browser. We learnt how to add and use RGBA in Arnold render view. To render go to render settings and make sure 'common' is set to 'name.#.ext.' Then set the frames and make sure the image size is set correctly. Next move to Sample to correct the noise in rendering. Then finally use the render sequence button to render (make sure the eye and render icon in render layers are turned on for the layers you want to render).

After this, the rendered layers were then dragged into Nuke, where we have reflection shadows and the object merged over, whilst using the floor as a background also merged to the viewer. Shuffle node and colour correction were used to enhance the shades/ lighting of the object. After this, I was introduced to using; Z, diffuse_direct and indirect, specular_direct and indirect for the AOV setting.

Overall I took a lot of notes this week as it was very hard to learn about the AOVs, which will be my next achievement for this week.
