Week 2 - Basics and More UI
Fig.1 - Colour grading and Colour Correction |
Today's focus was on colours, I was able to learn about the difference between colour grading and colour correcting. We looked at the colour schemes and how we can use colour for storytelling. We started off by downloading a background and an object of a mailbox. Which we had to try and make look realistic through the eyes by using Nuke. This was interesting as I did not know how to tackle this subject using the software. Grade colour was used to connect the object with the background as both of them should not look off but realistic.
Creating the spaceship, I downloaded a file and moved it into Nuke where I was able to start complimenting colours on the object and backgrounds. Colour correct was used to help control the colours of the object, such as; saturation the contrast, brightness and more. After this, I used diffuse and specular to focus on lighting and shading. This lead me into merging them together to create what is shown in figure 1.
In, Conclusion this was a nice experience as I was able to learn more about nodes. Going through the class I was able to understand how crucial it is to remember keywords when using Nuke. Looking at Fig.4, I thought this went well, what I would do differently is change the colour of the object, and make it less bright for realism.
