Week 3: Interface and Basic Operations
Today we learnt the basics of the software Nuke. We started by learning how to render a video in image sequence by using a form of language, (.###.Jpeg) thus making the images understand where they are being navigated and named. As shown in Fig.4, we learnt about colour matching, Using ctrl, shift and alt to pick the dark and white colour, and using ctrl - shift from another image to add the colour to the original image. This then gives the original image a polished and different aesthetic. For example in figure 4, on the left, I gave the original image a vintage green look representing the past in contrast to the right, and could also be used as the main image depending on the story-teller.
After this we experimented with tracking again, however, this time came out with a successful result as Walle was not moving whilst the camera was. Previously I ended up adding many tracks thinking we were holding the canvas, however, today we used one tracking node and moved the object close as we can to the node which successfully held strongly. In addition we learnt how to assign an image to certain things in a moving video.
Today was about going through everything that we learn on our first day about Nuke and polishing our skills. In my opinion, I thought this went well as you can see through my summary in class. I was able to understand more about nodes and the different places we can get the settings we want. Although there is a lot to be learnt, I feel like my skills has been well refined since my first day. What I would do next is learn from my mistakes and now start doing personal studies to upgrade my skills.
