Character Animation Independent study

As said in my last post on my blog; I will be focusing more on posing and animating at a faster pace. The first video was an example of using the animation engine to rely on time and spacing. I would describe the first video as an exaggerated beach ball, as I experimented with all the squash and stretch possible. In the second video (beach ball 2), I created this without the engine which I thought was easier to control, although looking through it again, if I relied less on the engine it would make an interesting animation. Since this was a tutorial and I followed every step, I made sure that I added some part of my animation into it, for example, the ball bouncing off the wall and the exaggeration in the first video. Thus, what I would do differently is focus on animating and using less of the engine to create a smoother squash and stretch.

Afterwards, I decided to go on to the next tutorial. As shown in the last video below (called Hover) I decided to follow the tutorial and completely animate blindly to see what I came up with. I thought it went well and I was able to control the timing of the robot's 'one leg.' However, I seemed to have stumbled a little at the end when the robot reached its final destination. I struggled with the little bounce side to side as it had to slow down. What I would do differently is make the ending last longer to make it look natural and less magnetic to the ground. In the end, I thought this was a successful process because I was able to have a lot of control over the movement.
