Personal Studies - Camera tracking
Fig.1 - Cam tracking using help from tutorial |
Today for my personal study I decided to do some camera tracking. I followed one of the tutorials by Richard Cunningham (shown in figure 1). When doing this process it was helpful to pause and slow down the video to completely grasp the intentions for each node. I used my final project as an experiment for my personal studies. Following the tutorial, I was able to use the camera and position the nodes where I saw fit. I created the cards to establish the area where the scene is going to take place, after that I made sure I wasn't missing any nodes and completed the tutorial by exporting my files ready for Maya.
I was struggling with some of the nodes as I did not quite understand where they should be positioned and how a node can affect another. However, I was able to solve my issue and understood that the nodes at the bottom controlled the nodes at the top, in addition also understanding what should be imported into the scene and camera nodes. I went through this process over again until I had everything (e.g. cards and nodes settings) right. What I would do next in my personal study is expand my resources by not only looking at the canvas tutorials.
