Week 10 - Polishing an Animation

Fig.1 - Using a camera to create a story

In today's last lesson we learned about advanced body mechanics. For example eyes and cloth controls. I was then exposed to interesting rigs and different ways you can unlock a mechanic to animate.

After that, we were exposed to many other rigs and I was able to do some of the workshops as shown in Fig.1. I used one camera to create a short scenario. I decided to use a camera from a below angle facing upwards to give the character more power, whilst the camera moves towards her. Thus making it look like a small thing is chasing her. Then I used a medium shot zooming out the character's face representing shock. therefore leading to a body shot showing her falling down. After this, I used the graph editor as shown in the workshop to smoothen and enhance the camera movement. I thought this went well, although I would change the speed to give the audience more of an understanding. We then focused on functional breaking posses such as; Contact, down, passing and up.

In conclusion, I thought this went well as I was intrigued by the mechanics of the characters and using the cameras in Maya. What I will be doing next is focusing on personal studies and hope to use my enhanced skills to create something successful for my final project.
