I had a lot of fun using After Effects, this is because I already have experience using this software. Although I did not know how to create a professional look when it came to breakdown videos. I started following the steps; rendered each layer from Nuke that I thought went well when played and paused to show the layers, the nodes were turned off and on to represent the before and after. After everything was rendered I moved all the images to after effects and started using the mask presented to me in the video, and placed the layers in their proper position. When using the mask it was tricky, however, I was able to find a pattern and followed that pattern to create the final breakdown video. 

In conclusion, the breakdown video in my opinion was successful as I made two compositions as shown in the videos below. When doing this I had a lot of issues using after effects as some options were not visible, however, looking at other sources I was able to make them visible (by pressing F4). Overall, I gave up and created a simple version but then came back to the project and decided to solve my problems which I successfully did.
