Personal Study - Animation steps/ Appeal

Said in my previous blog about my final animation. I worked on the poses and the in-between poses (shown above), and I then proceeded to add lip-sync (shown below). I did not struggle with the posing as much as I thought I would, this is because I was already prepared since I worked on my walking cycle and attack combo. This gave me more control over the rig and movement as it was like following a routine. After the key posing and timing, I went on to lip-syncing.

Starting the lip-sync was surprisingly less hard than I thought it would be. I followed the workshops and other sources for lip-syncing. However, I felt more comfortable mouthing the words whilst moving the mouthed rig the way I felt my mouth was positioned. I started moving the jaw first and placing my hand below my chin, thus helping me understand when the jaw should be moved. In addition, I looked at google images, such as; relaxed poses, angry poses and more, even went as far as to act it out myself whilst animating for reference.

At the end of the day, going through this process helped me understand how to move the mouth and perfect Lip-syncing using different methods. What I will do next is add facial emotions to understand the characters' intentions.
